But Wade, James and Bosh shouldered the load, averaging a combined 66.8 of Miami's 92.8 points per game in the postseason. He was selected by the Miami Heat in the second round (47th overall) of the 2000 NBA draft. He played in Miami for three seasons before leaving for the Los Angeles Clippers in free agency.

Quite a plethora of personalities here, between myself, Adam Copeland, and Eddie Kingston. The property also boasts a massive pool surrounded by lush greenery, providing a serene and private oasis for relaxation and entertainment. The stone outdoor patio seamlessly blends with the environment, featuring a covered seating area with a tiled roof in regional architectural style. A fireplace adds warmth for evening gatherings, while a bell tower nearby enhances the aesthetic. Wicker furniture with beige cushions offers comfort and complements the natural elements. Throughout the perimeter of the Murphy house (image above), the well-represented symmetry and classical proportions contribute to its balanced formality.

Professional Career

Let’s take a closer look at this stunning residence and delve into the fascinating details that make it a true celebrity haven. The transition between public and private spaces informs a viewer of the exact type of “mood” or activity within that room. Public rooms in the house are open and oriented to face what lies outside, i.e., the pool or yard. The house features a series of arches that visually break up the imposing length. In contrast to the public spaces, the family’s bedrooms, mainly on the second floor, are more private and protected spaces.

Although the Heat picked him as one of the last choices, the club showed faith in him, and therefore, he played 50 matches in his rookie season. House finished his senior season with a record-high average of 23.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. During these same years, he developed his skills to score three-pointers, for which he later became popular in the NBA. House is the only player in ASU’s history to score more than 2000 points.

"I just think that their basketball IQ got a whole lot better than it was last year," House said. “I love working with everybody here, on air and behind the scenes,’’ he added. “Everybody brings great energy, and they’re also very knowledgeable. It’s not like talking to a novice or somebody that’s just doing one thing behind the scenes, but really don’t understand the game. On Tuesday's edition of FS1's "The Carton Show," Eddie House, one of the role players behind James, Wade and Bosh with the Heat that season, responded to that take.

He has easy chemistry with former teammates and fellow analysts Brian Scalabrine and Kendrick Perkins as well as host Amina Smith. House is concise, opinionated, informed, and effortlessly funny, and he’s been a huge hit with NBC Sports Boston viewers. "Remember when we used to be worried, like, 'Oh, here we go again, we're about to blow this'? We don't have to worry about that no more," House said on NBC Sports Boston's Celtics Postgame Live. "... It all starts with our defense. We get stops, we rebound, we close the possession out with a rebound, then we go and execute."

Boston's offensive execution has taken major strides thanks to the additions of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, whom ESPN color commentator JJ Redick referred to as "cheat codes" on Saturday's broadcast. "If we gonna point the finger, we'll point the finger at the fourth-quarter collapse every game that we had," House said. "It was 1-1 Game 2, we were up, we collapsed in the fourth quarter. They tied it up. We win Game 3. We go up 2-1 [and] we didn't win another game. If we're gonna play the blame game, I wasn't out on the court." Miami converted on 23 of their 43 attempts from deep, with Tyler Herro (6-11 from 3) and Caleb Martin (5-6) leading the charge. Prior to Wednesday night, the Heat scored a season-high 21 3-pointers in a regular season matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.

After completing high school, Eddie had wanted to enroll in the University of California, Berkeley but his high school coaches recommended him otherwise. While realizing that Eddie House has a son who’s a senior in college made some observers feel old, the moment itself was popular with basketball fans, who loved seeing a father’s raw joy over his son’s great play. Jaelen House, who’s the son of the former Celtics guard, led New Mexico to a title in the Mountain West Conference Tournament, scoring 28 points in the championship game against San Diego State to win, 68-61. The Celtics still have plenty to prove when they take the court, and it all starts this Sunday when they open their preseason against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics weren’t the only ones that made a savvy in-season acquisition of an experienced veteran guard.

Payton Pritchard, who had really seemed to come into his own towards the end of the regular season, failed to attempt a shot in his 20 minutes on the floor, logging just three assists and a rebound. Sam Hauser and Al Horford combined for 12 points, with no other bench players hitting the court. He also is the career record-holder at Arizona State for field goals and steals, and set the single-season scoring average record for the school with 23.0 points per game in 1999–2000. During that season he was named Pac-10 Player of the Week a record-tying four times (matched only by Ed O'Bannon, Chris Mills, Gary Payton, and Quincy Pondexter). This impressive compound boasts a total square footage of 17,851 square feet, comprising a 12,600 square foot main residence and a 5,200 square foot guest house.

House set a single-game Arizona State record with a 61-point effort in a 111–108 double-overtime victory against the California Golden Bears on the road in his senior season. House also set a record in the game with 18 made free throws in 19 attempts. House is the first Pac-10 player to notch four 40-point games in one season as he had 61 vs. Cal, 46 vs. San Diego State, 42 vs. Penn State and 40 vs. UCLA. He also posted eight 30-point games that same season and set ASU records in points (736) and points per game (23.0).

Some factors to consider may include the story and booking of the match, the workrate of the performers, ring psychology, length of the match, audience reaction, and so forth. The star rating system is a scale ranging from 0 to 5 with increments of 0.25. A five star match is as close to perfect as it gets while a zero star match is a complete dud. This dining room may be smaller than expected, but it still gives off a regal vibe.

House attended Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, on a full-ride scholarship.[1] He is the all-time scoring leader at ASU with 2,044 points in his career, and is the only player to score more than 2,000 points. He, Ike Diogu, and James Harden are the only three Sun Devils to be named Pac-10 Player of the Year, and he was the fifth Sun Devil to be voted onto the All-Conference team twice. At this stage it is important to consider a wide range of assessment methods in order to ensure that students are being assess over the goals the instructor wants students to attain. Sometimes, the assessments do not match the learning goals, and it becomes a frustrating experience for students and instructors. Use the list below to help brainstorm assessment methods for the learning goals of the course.

Once the learning goals have been established, the second stage involves consideration of assessment. The backward design framework suggests that instructors should consider these overarching learning goals and how students will be assessed prior to consideration of how to teach the content. For this reason, backward design is considered a much more intentional approach to course design than traditional methods of design. The first question listed above has instructors consider the knowledge that is worth being familiar with which is the largest circle, meaning it entails the most information.

Court, Arrest, Lawsuits, Bankruptcy Records & Sex Offender Status

Wiggins and McTighe provide an expanded array of practical tools and strategies for designing curriculum, instruction, and assessments that lead students at all grade levels to genuine understanding. The incorporation of backward design also lends itself to transparent and explicit instruction. If the teacher has explicitly defined the learning goals of the course, then they have a better idea of what they want the students to get out of learning activities. Furthermore, if done thoroughly, it eliminates the possibility of doing certain activities and tasks for the sake of doing them.

Information that fits within this question is the lowest priority content information that will be mentioned in the lesson, unit, or course. “Last year, I was starved for bass players,” says Bill Yeager, director of jazz studies at San Diego State University. Hofmann wittily turns the tables on usual roles with her version of the Gershwins’ “Embraceable You,” giving Magnusson’s bass the lead melodic role at first while she plays backup counterpoint, then switching into an improv mode while Magnusson thrums along underneath her flute. “It’s some great playing, she’s a wonderful player, just some good jazz,” said Phil Sheridan, vice president of Jazz Alliance, explaining why his company selected Hofmann’s project as one of its 20 releases for 1992. The second question above allows the instructor to focus on more important knowledge, the knowledge and skills that are important to know and do. Finally, with the third question, instructors begin to detail the enduring understandings, overarching learning goals, and big ideas that students should retain. By answering the three questions presented at this stage, instructors will be able to determine the best content for the course.

Furthermore, the answers to question #3 regarding enduring understandings can be adapted to form concrete, specific learning goals for the students; thus, identifying the desired results that instructors want their students to achieve. In Understanding by Design, Wiggins and McTighe argue that backward design is focused primarily on student learning and understanding. When teachers are designing lessons, units, or courses, they often focus on the activities and instruction rather than the outputs of the instruction. Therefore, it can be stated that teachers often focus more on teaching rather than learning. This perspective can lead to the misconception that learning is the activity when, in fact, learning is derived from a careful consideration of the meaning of the activity. Educators from kindergarten through college can get everything they need—guidelines, stages, templates, and tips—to start designing lessons, units, and courses that lead to improved student performance and a more stimulating experience for students and teachers alike.

Prior to that, he helped lead Maryland’s standards-based reforms, including the development of performance-based statewide assessments. As the quote below highlights, teaching is not just about engaging students in content. Student learning and understanding can be gauged more accurately through a backward design approach since it leverages what students will need to know and understand during the design process in order to progress. The knowledge and skills at this substage are considered important to know and do. The information that fits within this question could be the facts, concepts, principles, processes, strategies, and methods students should know when they leave the course. The big ideas and important understandings are referred to as enduring understandings because these are the ideas that instructors want students to remember sometime after they’ve completed the course.

Every task and piece of instruction has a purpose that fits in with the overarching goals and goals of the course. As previously stated, backward design is beneficial to instructors because it innately encourages intentionality during the design process. It continually encourages the instructor to establish the purpose of doing something before implementing it into the curriculum. Therefore, backward design is an effective way of providing guidance for instruction and designing lessons, units, and courses. Once the learning goals, or desired results, have been identified, instructors will have an easier time developing assessments and instruction around grounded learning outcomes. Well known for his work with thinking skills, McTighe has coordinated statewide efforts to develop instructional strategies, curriculum models, and assessment procedures for improving the quality of student thinking.

Mike was Charlsie’s older brother, which made him Eddie’s brother-in-law. House also played NBA together with Mike for the Sacramento Kings and the Miami Heat much later. House’s salary increased to $1.4 million when he was with the Brooklyn Nets in 2006. After that, he played for NBA clubs such as Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Miami Heat, from which he collected nearly $10 million.

Eddie grew up playing basketball and watching it on television with his brothers and family members. New Mexico won’t know where it’s playing yet in the tournament until later Sunday, but don’t expect to see House on any NBC Sports Boston Celtics broadcast later in the week. There's no doubt teams will have their hands full defending the scary starting five of Holiday, White, Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. It's an incredibly talented group that, barring injuries, could end up as the best in the league when all is said and done. House solidified his spot in the rotation in March, when he was in town for the Kevin Garnett number retirement ceremony. NBC Sports Boston had him in studio for several games while the Celtics were on a road trip out west.

His elder son, Jaelen, currently plays as a guard for the University of New Mexico’s basketball team, the Lobos. Following his retirement from his playing career, House chose to be a media person and currently works as an analyst on NBC Sports Boston. House finished his first-ever NBA season with an average of 5.0 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.

Eddie House played four full college seasons for the Arizona State Sun Devils. While with the Sun Devils, he improved a lot as a player and emerged as one of the most successful point scorers and stealers from his college. Over time, House became confident and dreamed of becoming an NBA player when he had not even started high school. However, he was pretty lean and short as a kid, and for that reason, people doubted that he would make ever make it up to the professional level. While Eddie House achieved a lot in his career in both college basketball and the NBA, it’s likely that nothing he accomplished excited House like what we saw on Saturday as he watched his son play. In December, the production model that the network used to produce games was changing, and, “we needed to do a couple test games,’’ said Miller.

House’s 28 led the way while Jamal Mashburn Jr. — another son of a former NBA player — added 21. House’s son converted on the ensuing free throw, giving the Lobos the cushion they needed to win the Mountain West title. The play was also the exclamation point on a superb week for the younger House, who scored 23 points per game in the tournament to win MVP honors.

proportion in Interior Design A Simple Beginner's Guide To Proportions

proportion in interior design

For example, if you have a large sofa on one side of the room, you might balance it with a large painting or mirror on the other side. Proportion in interior design is the relationship of size, scale, and number among the elements within a space. Interior designers understand what the room needs and accordingly use scale and proportion to determine the size of an object with respect to the size of the room.

Opt for Furniture that Fits the Room’s Scale

Area rugs are a great way to add color, texture, and warmth to a room. The size of the rug should be proportional to the size of the room and the furniture. A rug that is too small can make a room feel disjointed, while a rug that is too large can overwhelm the space. The firm eschews trendiness, instead seeking to discover its clientele’s passions and desired lifestyles, tailoring their work to each client’s discerning tastes. The Lovell House is reminiscent of Le Corbusier’s style and aesthetic. The stark while walls stand out among the wooded terrain; the ribbon windows offer expansive views and a significant amount of light to enter the interior spaces.

Light Proportion

A well-designed space begins with a clear understanding of scale and proportion. Lamps, knickknacks, and other items need to be scaled so they’re proportional to the surface they’re resting on. Try choosing items that are between one third and two thirds the length or height of the table they sit on.

Elements and Principles of Interior Design – Scale and Proportion

For instance, a large dining room table may feel overpowering in a small dining room, while a small coffee table could get lost in a larger room. Selecting the right dining table for your space is essential to avoid such issues. Carefully considering these elements creates a visually appealing and harmonious layout where all elements shine. Accurate measurement of furniture and objects is required to achieve the correct scale. A common oversight made by home decorators is purchasing items based solely on personal preference without considering how they will fit in the room and complement other furnishings. For example, the height of an item must not exceed 13 times that of the item it rests upon.

For example, if the walls are painted with a rough texture, it may be best to select fabrics with a smoother texture to create balance. In addition to the size and height of furniture, the shape of the furniture can also affect the overall proportion of a room. For example, a round table can help soften the lines of a square room, while a rectangular table can help elongate a narrow room. The coffee table should be about the same height as the seat of the sofa or chair.

Living Room

Correctly using scale and proportion in interior design means understanding how to choose objects that are sized to play well together. These concepts can be tricky at first, but here are three great tips to help you achieve better results using the principles of scale and proportion for your interior design. Proportion and scale are two crucial principles that interior designers use to create a cohesive and balanced design.

When organizing gallery walls, focus on how the artwork comes together as a unit. The idea of scale and proportion revolves around how items fit together in your space. Designers tend to stay within their comfort zone and stick to their pre-decided layout. However, to have an exciting scale and proportion, consider the placement of various objects and furniture in the room.

The golden ratio to get a balanced room layout

From bedrooms to kitchens, it’s about finding the right mix of elements to create harmony and balance. Proportion helps you place everything just right, like arranging the toppings on a perfect pizza. A lot of creative disciplines use the rule of thirds, and interior design is no exception. It’s a great tool to fall back on when grouping items because it generates a nice flow and cohesion. Stick with odd-numbered grouping such as three or five, and vary the height and size to create a tiered pattern.

For most designers, it’s a difficult thing to explain when objects in a room are in proportion – this is what we refer to as having “an eye for design”. Proportion is the relationship between the size, shape, and quantity of the elements in your interior design. It’s how you compare and contrast the different parts of your design to create a sense of order, unity, and harmony. Proportion can be applied to individual objects, groups of objects, or the whole room. By considering the scale of the furniture and other design elements, we can create spaces that feel balanced and inviting.

A focal point can be created in some ways, such as with a large piece of artwork, a statement light fixture, or a bold piece of furniture. When selecting a focal point, consider the object’s scale with the size of the room, and make sure that it doesn’t overpower the space or appear too small and insignificant. A well-placed focal point can bring a sense of balance and harmony to a room and help guide the eye around the space. Great designers know how to make a space visually pleasing and exciting by playing around with colors and tones. Contrast can be created in the form of colors, shapes, or even the height and proportion of objects.

'You can use the golden ratio to get the picture height right, too,' says H&G's Editor in Chief Lucy Searle. Pictures need to be hung nearer the furniture below them than the ceiling above – think 40% of blank wall below, and 60% above. Ever been struck by living room layouts that seem either under-furnished or cluttered with furniture, and felt the lack of balance?

Toby Huss is a longtime character actor who is having a moment right now, as in addition to White House Plumbers he stars in the Paramount Plus original series Fatal Attraction. Some other Huss roles include Dickinson, Copshop and Halt and Catch Fire. Many of the infamous names behind the Watergate scandal are being portrayed by famous ones as part of the White House Plumbers cast. The new HBO limited series is based on the hard to believe true events that ultimately led to Richard Nixon's resignation, specifically the blundering team of spies and burglars known as the Plumbers. As Deadline revealed exclusively in January, Daniels opened up a development room to explore ideas for a follow-up series to the Emmy-winning The Office. Daniels has indicated that a new Office iteration could follow a crew doing a documentary about a different subject.

In the series, he is an ardent defender of President Nixon, believing that leaks like the Pentagon Papers are helping to destroy the nation that he worked to defend. However, his spycraft game is exactly as strong as he thinks it is.

Domnhall Gleeson plays John Dean, the White House Counsel also involved in the scandal whose epic firing signaled the beginning of the end of Nixon. Gary Cole plays Mark Felt, the FBI Deputy Director who became the infamous “Deep Throat” feeding information to reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. This Series tellls the story of how Nixon's political saboteurs & Watergate masterminds accidentally toppled the Presidency they were zealously trying to protect. White House Plumbers is on HBO and Sky Atlantic and focuses on the real-life burglary of the Democratic National Committee HQ in the Watergate Hotel in 1972, that led to the downfall of President Nixon.

The five-episode limited series premieres on HBO and HBO Max on May 1. Parts of White House Plumbers are laugh-out-loud outrageous – but other parts do make you feel for some of these people, and, of course, compare that scandal to more contemporary ones. All the President's Men is one of my favorite movies of all time — and White House Plumbers is good enough to be shown as a very long, all-Watergate double feature.

Right away, you know this new White House Plumbers series is in great hands. Specifically, it's in the hands of writers and creators Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, both of whom worked on HBO's Veep and The Larry Sanders Show. The director of multiple episodes is David Mandel, who directed episodes of Veep and Curb Your Enthusiasm. And the many executive producers include Frank Rich, who's also an executive producer on Succession.

He goes home to wife Dorothy (Lena Headey), who has a more decorated espionage past of her own, and an assortment of screwed up kids. An FBI wash-out, Liddy has a reputation for eccentricity and an unnervingly chipper, well-behaved family fronted by wife Fran (Judy Greer). The two men are brought together by Bud Krogh (Rich Sommer) and tasked with investigating the leak of the Pentagon Papers.

Fran Liddy is the ever supporting wife of Gordon Liddy, in the show played by Judy Greer. Greer is a fan-favorite actress, known for roles in Archer, 13 Going on 30, Arrested Development and the new Halloween movies. More recently she starred in TV shows Reboot, The First Lady and The Thing About Pam. Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Lena Headey, Judy Greer, Domhnall Gleeson and more headline this series premiering on HBO on May 1, but let's get to know who they are playing as well as more of the cast bringing these historical figures to life. Like the wall texts, you can also touch The Pen to the table to save the vase to your collection for later reference. You can explore the museum’s offerings by randomly drawing lines or shapes on the surface and letting the computer bring up an object that corresponds to your scribbling.

The mansion was designed by the architectural firm of Babb, Cook & Willard in the style of a Georgian country house. Another innovation was the inclusion of both central heating and a precursor to air-conditioning. In the cellar, enormous twin boilers were run by coal transferred from storage bin to furnace by a coal car that traveled over a miniature railroad track. The museum changed its name to Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in 2014.

It's beautiful and hypnotic and fun to guess what kind of object will be revealed as you drag a circle to the center of the screen as it expands into a full high-resolution image. Cooper Hewitt aims to create provocative dialogues around design and amplify its historical continuum. A year-round program of lectures, conversations, and hands-on workshops provide access to the world’s leading design minds and engages design lovers of all ages in the design process. The museum’s annual National Design Awards is its largest and most visible education initiative. Honoring excellence, innovation, and lasting achievements in American design, the Awards are bestowed every fall at a gala dinner and ceremony in the museum’s Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden during National Design Week. Held in conjunction with the Awards, National Design Week celebrates design’s impact on all aspects of daily life.

Equal access to art and design education was a cause championed by Sarah and Eleanor Hewitt, who established the museum of decorative arts that became the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Carrying on that legacy, this Design Topic features a selection of remarkable women in design from the museum’s collection. But that modesty, tinged as it is with the occasional flamboyant ornamentation, works for a museum like the Cooper Hewitt. The exhibition designers and curators take great advantage of their renewed spaces and bring out the best in the building while allowing the building to draw out new aspects of the objects on display. The broken ceramic lamp and jewel cabinet would just wouldn't have the same effect of they were installed in a white box gallery.

An influential educator, Guermonprez’s Bauhaus-influenced textiles greatly contributed to the development of modernism. Sheila Hicks (American, born 1934) is one of the most important contemporary textile artists of the 20th and 21st century. Trained in Germany, Margarethe Fröhlich (Austrian, 1901–1977) worked as an interior designer and model maker in Prague, Czech Republic, until she was displaced by the Nazi regime. Settling in New York City, Fröhlich produced models for designers such as Raymond Loewy before moving on to design education at Columbia University’s Teacher’s College and the Waldorf School. Originally a student of art and traditional ceramics in her native Europe, Eva Zeisel (Hungarian, 1906–2011) enjoyed international success as an industrial designer. Surviving imprisonment in Russia, escaping the Anschluss in Austria, and immigrating to the United States in 1938, she went on to receive numerous accolades throughout her long, groundbreaking career.

An Atlas of Es Devlin is the first monographic museum exhibition dedicated to British artist and stage designer Es Devlin (born 1971), who is renowned for work that transforms audiences. Since beginning in small theaters in 1995, she has charted a course from kinetic stage designs at the National Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera to installations at major institutions including the World Expo, Lincoln Center, and the United Nations headquarters. Her sculptures for Olympic Ceremonies, NFL Super Bowl halftime shows, and stadium tours for Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and U2 frame narratives that feel personal at a monumental scale. Over the past decade, she has adapted her craft to address climate and civilizational crises.

VISITOR GUIDE

It is the mission of Cooper-Hewitt’s staff and board of trustees to advance the public understanding of design across the 240 years of human creativity represented by the museum’s collection. In a Georgian mansion on New York’s Upper East Side, a lamp made of shattered ceramic crockery abstracted into a frozen explosion hangs over an gilded porcelain jewel cabinet, artfully adorned with images of birds and flowers and ancient gods. In the next room, an iPod shares space with a typewriter, and a Russian lithograph in a custom case designed by one of New York’s top architecture firms. Despite spanning centuries and styles these groupings of disparate objects coalesce with surprising grace, provoking visitors to really think about just what design is. These are only two of many such moments realized by the thoughtful curators and designers behind the newly reopened, revamped and reinvigorated Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.

The Collection Browser is available on seven tables installed throughout all floors of the museum, giving you access to thousands of objects in the museum’s collection, including those currently on view in the galleries. You can also draw a shape that will bring up a related collection object, or try their hand at drawing simple three-dimensional forms. Working in disciplines as varied as graphic design, product design, and textile design, women designers have greatly enriched their respective fields. However, from the anonymity of domestic craft to traditionally male-dominated fields, such as industrial design and architecture, women have routinely been excluded from the story of design.

The Parsons School of Design, in partnership with Cooper Hewitt, offers an accredited Master’s Program in the History of Design and Curatorial Studies located on the museum campus. The program prepares the next generation of design curators, conservators, scholars, educators, and administrators; all of whom receive hands-on experience with masterworks of design and are fully integrated into the museum’s departments. Shaping the National Design Collection, we invite Cooper Hewitt members to join us for an evening with award-winning designers and weavers Helena Hernmarck and Elizabeth Whelan. In conversation with Acting Director of Curatorial, Matilda McQuaid, Hernmarck and Whelan will discuss the innovations and inspirations which define their practices. After the death of her husband Alvin Lustig, Elaine Lustig Cohen (American, 1927–2016) took the reins of his graphic design business. Retaining his clients, she quickly learned how to run the business and became a successful graphic designer herself.

Greiman was then appointed to Director of the California Institute of the Arts in 1982 where she had the opportunity to work with photographer Jayme Odgers to experiment with video and computers. Greiman’s approach to design is to look at the page as a three-dimensional space through the juxtaposition of typography, photography, and other elements. April Greiman (American, born 1948) trained at Kansas City Art Institute from 1966 to 1970 and continued her postgraduate studies with Wolfgang Weingart and Armin Hoffman at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel, Switzerland, from 1970 to 1971. Greiman became an instructor at Philadelphia College of Art and worked in both Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and New York City. Guest curator Rebeca Méndez considers how culture, design, technology, and the natural world have converged throughout history. From the 1890s to the 1920s, Sophia Crownfield designed prints for prominent silk and wallpaper firms in the United States.

In 1976, she moved to Los Angeles, California, and established her own studio, where she became the leading figure of emergent “NEW WAVE” design.

"Rather than just having two design teams, we wanted to have a sampling of American design firms represented here," says the museum’s director Caroline Baumann. Gluckman Mayner Architects’ primary role was to design the new spaces—the modern white galleries brought alive by the exhibitions, the cafe, the classroom and lab spaces—and plan new circulation, including the naturally lit public stairwell that links the four floors of galleries. Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners have been involved since the Cooper Hewitt started planning this renovation in 2006.

Enhance your visit to Cooper Hewitt with our Digital Guide on Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app. Delve deeper into the museum’s history and learn more about the exhibitions currently on view. Cooper Hewitt’s renovation now offers an entirely new and invigorated experience, with interactive, immersive creative technologies at the heart of every visit and 60% more gallery space to explore. Made specifically for the Cooper Hewitt by a team of designers and fabricators,.It also interacts with the new digital touchscreen tables found throughout the museum, though a finger works just as well. A continuous stream of circular images scrolls down the screen, each image depicting a detail of a different object from the collection.

The Immersion Room on the second floor uses digital and projection technologies to bring the museum’s collection of wallcoverings, the largest and most significant in North America to life. Browse hundreds of high-resolution digitized wallpapers and see them projected at full-scale, floor-to-ceiling on the surrounding walls. Sketch your own designs, adjust the colors and manipulate repeat patterns, and see them projected on the walls around you. Selected wallcoverings are accompanied by brief audio commentary with designers, who share design insights and inspiration.

White House Plumbers TV Mini Series 2023

white house plumbers cast

White House Plumbers looks to be HBO’s newest prestige miniseries hit. It helps that it boasts a big-time cast that brings to life one of the wilder stories in American political history. HBO is taking on the infamous Watergate scandal in a new limited series coming to the network this spring. Given all the projects being flushed down the drain at HBO these days, it’s no surprise that some plumbers have been hired. And who better to play HBO’s Mario and Luigi than Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux? Okay, fine, The White House Plumbers isn’t actually a show about fixing pipes.

Actor

The dialogue is rich throughout White House Plumbers, and so are the performances and characters. Harrelson is wonderful — exploding like Ralph Kramden one minute, simmering like Macbeth the next — and the supporting cast is a very deep bench, serving up unexpected treasures every episode. There's Kathleen Turner as lobbyist Dita Beard! And Lena Headey from Game of Thrones as Hunt's wife, Dorothy! And Gary Cole as FBI executive Mark Felt – who, though he's not identified as such here, in real life was the infamous Deep Throat of All the President's Men. This five-part limited series imagines the behind-the-scenes story of how Nixon’s political saboteurs, E.

White House Plumbers premieres on HBO Monday, May 1 at 9/8c and streaming on HBO Max.

She’s also due to appear in The First Lady, coming out this year, which tells the story of the presidents’ wives. Gordon Liddy, an attorney and former FBI agent who was assigned to the White House Special Investigations unit known as 'The White House Plumbers'. Woody Harrelson plays his colleague, retired CIA officer E. Howard Hunt who along with Liddy organized the Watergate burglary. Woody Harrelson is an Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor best known for his roles in True Detective, Cheers, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Hunger Games, Zombieland and White Men Can't Jump. Most recently he starred in the sports comedy Champions and was part of the cast of the Best Picture-nominated movie Triangle of Sadness.

Sources Gave an Update on Hugh Jackman's 'Love Life' After Fans Raised Concerns About His Well-Being

Mostly, though, the actors in the overqualified supporting cast come in, attempt to yell or flail or sputter exaggeratedly to keep up with the leads and then depart without justifying their performance. By the end of an hour, I was exhausted by the hijinks. By the end of two hours, having sat through extended reenactments of each failed Watergate break-in, I was looking for anything resembling a still center to this madcap universe. By the end of three hours, I’d identified Headey’s clear-eyed and capable Dorothy as the one character here worth rooting for — like a more deadly version of Martha Mitchell, the focus of Starz’s recent attempt to paint Watergate as a scandal fueled by buffoons. And by the end of the fourth episode I was actively angry with the glibly cheap laughs that accompanied Dorothy and her real-life fate.

White House Plumbers Cast: Woody Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt

Gordon LiddyJustin takes on the role of former FBI agent G. Gordon Liddy who was tasked with preventing leaks of classified information to the media. Justin starred in the 2001 movie Mulholland Drive and American Psycho before playing Joe in the series Six Feet Under.

Woody Harrelson

As the first trailer for the five-part miniseries shows, Harrelson and Theroux are instead starring as E. Gordon Liddy, the Watergate masterminds who accidentally toppled the presidency they were trying to protect. “You are White House employees on the payroll,” instructs Nixon official Bud Krogh (Rich Sommer). “For God’s sake, don’t get caught.” Lena Headey and Judy Greer star as the wives of the men who were ultimately connected to the “third-rate” burglary attempt.

White House Plumbers endeavors to humanize its perpetrators by illustrating that beneath their buffoonery was… lots and lots more buffoonery. The series starts with this imbecility already at maximum volume and then makes it louder and louder. When he isn’t writing dreadful spy novels under a pseudonym, Hunt is stuck in a dead-end PR job after getting forced out of the CIA.

Storyline

The Cubans were members of the Watergate break-in team that all had ties to working with Hunt during his time at the CIA. Frank Sturgis was a police officer, private investigator, Marine and anti-communist recruited by Howard Hunt to assist with the Watergate break-in. Playing Sturgis in White House Plumbers is Kim Coates, best known for his roles in titles like Bad Blood, Sons of Anarchy, Goon and Godless. McCord was another former CIA operative who was brought on in the official capacity to be the head of security for Nixon's Committee for the Re-Election of the President, but would find himself in the thick of the Watergate scandal. Gleeson is coming off some of the best reviews of his career for the FX series The Patient.

Lori Loughlin Speaks Out Following Varsity Blues Scandal: “You Can’t Hang on to Negativity. Life’s Too Short”

Hunt spent 33 months in prison for burglary, wiretapping, and conspiracy. Michael Balderston is a DC-based entertainment and assistant managing editor for What to Watch, who has previously written about the TV and movies with TV Technology, Awards Circuit and regional publications. Spending most of his time watching new movies at the theater or classics on TCM, some of Michael's favorite movies include Casablanca, Moulin Rouge! On the TV side he enjoys Only Murders in the Building, Yellowstone, The Boys, Game of Thrones and is always up for a Seinfeld rerun.

The Game of Thrones actress plays Dorothy Hunt, first wife of E. She was killed in December 1972, when United Airlines Flight 553 crashed en route from Washington to Omaha. Though it was ruled an accident, her presence on the flight (and the fact that she had $10,000 in cash on her) led to various Watergate-related conspiracy theories, including that the crash was planned by the CIA. Thanks to the classic that is All the President's Men, we're more than familiar with the sensational true story of how Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein uncovered Watergate. Lesser known perhaps is the other duo at the heart of this scandal, a pair of operatives named E. Gordon Liddy, who also had a hand in toppling the Nixon presidency—except they had been scheming to do the exact opposite.

Sons of Anarchy actor Kim Coates is Frank Sturgis, another one of the five burglars involved in Watergate. In the '50s, Sturgis moved to Cuba and worked for Fidel Castro and as a CIA informant, and opened a training camp where he taught Che Guevarra guerilla warfare, then eventually defected and joined the anti-Castro opposition. He was also involved in a number of conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy, including some he perpetuated himself. For his role in Watergate, he spent 14 months in prison. Another link to another assassination, that of Portuguese prime minister Francisco de Sá Carneiro.

Just a short drive from Savannah, Georgia, this coastal community is in the perfect spot for a day trip. There's a little something for everyone from families to couples—South Beach is better for those who want a little excitement in their atmosphere, whereas North Beach is a bit more quiet and contained. I've found it particularly great for families (having traveled here with a multigenerational group ages 1-68), and recommend the kitschy Original Crab Shack for a memorable meal. Like Oak Bluffs, Newport is a beach town known for its houses, though a very different sort.

There are lots of cozy indoor and outdoor lounge areas, where guests can relax and mingle. The vibe here is very young and trendy -- it's a place where people come not only to relax but also to party. Though the hotel caters to all age groups, the loud pool parties may not suit everyone; but there is a quiet “Zen Zone” for those looking for calm. Most guests staying here are young couples spending a long weekend away. Aside from the deliciously warm weather and miles of beaches to traverse, Myrtle Beach is also home to a great many golf courses, amusement parks, water parks, and an iconic boardwalk with a massive 187-foot-tall Ferris Wheel.
